Helping new recruits see the ADF through new eyes.
‘Category 5’ is a next generation recruitment platform built for the HTC VIVE. It doesn’t just reach new recruits, it changes their perceptions about a career in the military. The experience is set in the aftermath of a tropical cyclone. As players lead the relief effort, we test their perceptions and problem solving skills, in a real-time strategy game that reveals a more holistic view of a career in the ADF.
The experience tours Australian expos and uni/TAFE campuses. As potential new recruits learn about us, we learn about them, tracking actions like: where players look, for how long, what they touch, ability to follow directions, which teams they choose and how quickly they solve problems. We also note if they try stepping out of a chopper mid-flight. All key insights into the kinds of roles they could fill.
